Jonathan Goldman to ELLUMINATE-FAC.

Elluminate, now renamed to BlackboardCollaborate, is now available within Blackboard 9.1. ITU is working on documentation for the new implementation but have not yet posted it. I’ve made some modifications to the documentation I wrote last year and they are available at:

Faculty quick setup guide:

Faculty FAQ (more detailed stuff):

Student guide:

I will send out a note as soon as I get word from ITU on their documentation.

The new integration is MUCH better than it was with WebCT and should prevent almost all of the problems students have experienced in the past.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions.

Webinar about Web Conferencing March 8, 2011

Rumor has it that George Mason will be getting Blackboard Collaborate as a collateral to 9.1 when it goes live. Here is the link to yesterday’s Blackboard Collaborate Distinguished Lecture Series presentation about Study Break: Growing the Adoption of Web Conferencing in a Graduate Program by Debbie Faires of San Jose State University: https://sas.elluminate.com/p.jnlp?psid=2011-03-07.1132.M.D714CC5054CC12CBC726E51BB91A3E.vcr&sid=39

The series uses Elluminate, a popular web conferencing tool frequently used as a virtual classroom. Elluminate was recently purchased by Blackboard, and they seem to have left it intact for the moment.
